54 new sports released!


We’ve just added 54 new activity types to HeiaHeia, based on user requests! We now support a total of 340 different types of “sports” ranging from road biking to skydiving and rug washing, from roller derby to zumba and synchronized skating.

New sport types added today:

Freediving, Streetball, Roller derby, Springboard diving, Infrared sauna, Wheelchair curling, Simplefit, Swamp walking, Swamp running, Swamp football, Car washing, Suburi, Water skiing, Trikke, Mölkky, MBT-walking, Kundalini yoga, Line dancing, Belly dancing, Back exercises, Rug washing, Rescue dog activity, Spear fishing, Bailing hay, Baby swimming, Croquet, Bodyharmony, Moonwalk, Parallel bars, Bandy, Painting, Synchronized skating, SHAPE, Wife carrying,  Flexi-bar, Deep stretching, Ab wheel, P90X, Diabolo, Motorcycle trials, Open water swimming, Trail running,  Aviation, Stable work, Touch rugby, Kung fu, Canine freestyle, Skike, Irish dancing, Afro, Motocross, Canyoning, Miniature golf, Oriental dance. Huh! ; )

If there are issues with terminology or translations in any of the sports, please let us know!

A special request to our users: as you may have noticed, our sport icon creation is sometimes lagging a bit behind and we use our generic H! icon for some sports. If you have the required Photoshopping skills, we can share our sport icon PSD templates with you, so that you can create an icon for your favourite sport (either creating a new icon or to fix an existing one).

    Terminology about P90x:
    P90X is a fitness program created by beachbodies.com, it’s one among many in the P90 series and to me it is little weird to be singled out like that.
    Other programs include:
    P90, P90Mass, P90Lady. Basically the idea in P90 series is “Power in 90 days”.
    P90X in this case stands for Power 90 Xtreme, which is not a beginner level fitness program but aimed for those who have already done P90 or are in good physical shape otherwise.

    Beach bodies have also created another types of fitness programs, for example “Insanity”, which is more cardio than the P90 series. Now imo these programs should not have their own categories. Unless of course it’s a root category labelled as “Fitness Plans” or some such, which would then include all the programs like P90x, AirAlert 1,2,3,4,5, Face lift with winstor pilates etc. Navigating this site will become increasingly hard if administrators add every workout plan someone has made.

    To categorize, P90 series and all beach body workouts rely on a term “Muscle Confusion”, now this same idea was first implemented in CrossFit training programs. And I would be first to argue that P90x is a crossfit program, and should be included under “CrossFit” (which this site already has). As practices both offer nothing unique into the fitness world, it’s just the idea of mixing workouts often enough to keep the muscles confused and keeping gains high, due to muscles not getting used to any single exercise.

    To nitpick even more, I’d like to point out that all the exercises in both p90 and crossfit are already categorized in the site. For example P90 series incorporate alot of pull-ups, which this site already has categorized as “Pull-ups”.

    Is there any way to change the activity for an old entry? I use eCoach to send activities with gpx files but unfortunately it supports only limited number of different activity types. I would like to change them later at the web site.

    How often do you add new sports? I have requested Figure Twister. I can’t add this training here, cause I can’t find anything similar to this either.

    I have sent a request to add “Nordic Skating” to the activity list. Nordic skating is a mix of cross country skiing and inline skating or in other words inline skating with skiing poles. There is a similar activity called cross skating aka “Skike”, where you “skate” with a special off-road skate. Maybe that should also be added as a separate activity?
