Here’s how it works:

1. Click “All sports”

2. Use the search field to check, if the sport type already exists

3. Click “Create a new sport” at the bottom of the “All sports” window

4. Type in the name of the new sport – ideally in all languages, this will help us publish the sport faster

5. Choose one or more categories for the sport – or create a new category of sport types

6. Choose data types for the sport (duration, mood, notes are shown by default to all sports) – or create new ones

7. Choose an icon from the existing ones

8. Tell us how well that icon works or should we create a new one

9. Add any comments you might have

10. We’ll check your new sport type before publishing it. If your new sport is e.g. “eating pizza and drinking beer”, we’ll reserve the right not to publish it. ; )

11. The new sport will appear in “All sports” and you’ll be notified via email.

A kind request to everybody with previously submitted sports requests to us: to get your sports published timely, please use the new wizard to create your sport types.

Olemme juuri julkaisseet työhyvinvointiversion suositusta HeiaHeia.com-liikuntapalvelusta! Palvelun idea on se, että nykyinen HeiaHeia.com on käyttäjän “oma näkymä” – jossa näet omat treenisi ja kaveriesi aktiviteetit. Työhyvinvointiversio on “yhteinen näkymä”, jossa näet työyhteisön yhteiset tavoitteet, voit tsempata työkavereitasi ja osallistua työpaikkakerhojen ryhmiin. Oman näkymän ja työpaikkanäkymän välillä voi siirtyä yhdellä klikkauksella, samaa treenilokia käytetään molemmissa. Myös samat yksityisyysasetukset pätevät molemmissa näkymissä: päätät itse, mitä haluat jakaa kenellekin.

Työhyvinvointiversiomme on kaupallinen tuote; nykyinen HeiaHeia.com on jatkossakin ilmainen käyttäjille. Lisensoimme työhyvinvointipalvelua “Software as a Service” -mallilla, eli ylläpidämme työnantajalle brändättyä palvelua. Tällä tavoin asiakasyritykset saavat viimeisimpiä internet-teknologioita hyödyntävän palvelun ja kaikki siihen tulevat päivitykset vaivattomasti ja erittäin kustannustehokkaasti.

Olemme testanneet konseptiamme neljän yrityksen kanssa (toimialat: ympäristökonsultointi, IT, kauppa/logistiikka, julkinen sektori). Pilottien tärkeimpiä johtopäätöksiä olivat, että “casual wellbeing”, eli “hauskemman hyvinvoinnin” mallimme vetoaa liikunnallisesti eritasoisiin ihmisiin ja että positiivinen tsemppaus toimii myös yrityksissä – tilastomme osoittavat kuinka työyhteisöt saivat hienoja tuloksia aikaan yhdessä. Esimerkkiyrityksessä 90% aktivoiduista käyttäjistä kirjasi liikuntansa palveluun – ja olivat näin mukana kerryttämässä yhteisiä tavoitteita ja kannustamassa muita. Viikottainen liikuntamäärä kasvoi pilotin aikana. Suosituimmat “urheilulajit” olivat arki- tai hyötyliikuntaa – eli HeiaHeia rohkaisi ihmisiä esimerkiksi kävelemään töihin tai tekemään muita pieniä mutta merkittäviä liikuntapäätöksiä. Kuten aina HeiaHeiassa, “kaikki kelpaa”, eli kaikki fyysinen aktiviteetti on hyvästä ja kannustamisen arvoista!

Yritysversiolla ei ole vaikutusta HeiaHeian kuluttajaversion kehitykseen: jatkamme palvelun kehittämistä eteenpäin kuten tähänkin asti.

Santa came a bit late this year – our Xmas release turned into a New Year’s release. But we very much believe it was worth waiting…

As a sign of the maturing of our service, we’ve dropped the word “Beta” from our name. Here are the key highlights of this release:

- New refreshed look
- New entry types: free form notes, sick days, whole new weight log
- New activity meter showing more: your trainings, your #1 sport, your cheers, your sick days & your mood
- New “Stats” tab for following your longer term progress
- A lot of little tweaks here and there: e.g. a cool search field in the “All sports” window

Next steps: We’re pushing out new sport types (sorry for the long waiting time on these!) and some wintery cheers soon.

All comments & bug reports on the new features are very much welcome! For example the Stats tab is not a “final version” by any means, we’ll keep on developing it further and your feedback will be crucial in making it both useful and fun.

Heia 2011!

A little sneak peek from our labs: we’re developing a “Christmas release” to celebrate HeiaHeia’s 1st anniversary in December. This release will be our biggest individual release since launch, including lots of user requests and some visual refreshes also. And a couple of little surprises in the spirit of Xmas. ; )

In other words, we’ve just launched support for the Italian language! If you spot any problems with the translation, please let us know. Big thanks to Anna for helping us out with this! The next new language should be Estonian – if you’d like to help us with some other language, don’t hesitate to contact us.

As always, feedback, comments and wishes on anything else coming to mind are very much welcome! Our current development focus: a couple of exciting new features as well as a batch of new sports.

After numerous phone calls, faxes, and emails from the White House and the Buckingham Palace, we’ve finally come about to support the “imperial system” or the “American system”, whichever term you prefer. You can now choose to use the metric system (km-m-kg-Celsius) or the American system (mi-ft-lb-Fahrenheit) in your HeiaHeia entries! You can switch the system used from the settings.

If you switch your units, all your old entries will be shown according to your current setting.

You’ll see your friends’ entries in the system their where made in (to give some cross-cultural flavour), but all the summaries etc will be made based on your own measurement units.

A special request to our users: as you may have noticed, our sport icon creation is sometimes lagging a bit behind and we use our generic H! icon for some sports. If you have the required Photoshopping skills, we can share our sport icon PSD templates with you, so that you can create an icon for your favourite sport (either creating a new icon or to fix an existing one).

Our earlier submission in the Ovi Store is a Web Runtime version supporting S60 3.2 and S60 5.0 devices.

Both the apps are in principle “wrappers”: icons in the homescreen, which open the mobile browser optimized version of HeiaHeia.

For the lucky ones who don’t speak in three letter acronyms: this means that you can track your outdoor activities with a GPS device & if your tracking app supports HeiaHeia as a destination site, you can automatically push your activities also to HeiaHeia and have nice route thumbnails in your feed to complement your other sporty activities.

The first app supporting this is our friend eCoach, available for the Nokia N900. The feature will be supported in the next eCoach release, due in a couple of weeks.
